Artova
Artova is a district of Tokat. It is 37 km away from Tokat city center. According to the population results of 2020, the population of the district is 8,132 people. The Sivas-Tokat highway can be reached via a 20 km long paved road from the east of the district. From here, it is 18 km away from Tokat city centre, and there is a 17 km road to the south of Yeşilyurt and a 29 km road to Sulusaray district. Some historical sources attribute the founding of the Artova district to the Çaldıran expedition of Yavuz Sultan Selim. In Evliya Çelebi's Travelogue, "...we went northwards, from Çamlıbel Mountain, passing through villages like prosperous and adorned towns with abundant crops in the province of Sivas." We came to the town of Arıkova (Artova). From there, we went north again and stopped by Sheikh Nusrettin Lodge." It became a district on June 1, 1944.
