Ayaş

Ayaş is a district of Ankara province. It is 55 km west of Ankara. It is suitable for agriculture, there are some farms. It is famous for its drinks. Ayaş has a long history and is mentioned in Evliya Çelebi's works and folklore songs. Those who settled in Ayaş were Oghuz tribes, and that is why the various village names were Bayat, Afşar, Peçenek, Kıpçak and Kargın. In 1554, Ayaş became the center of Sanjak and in 1864 the township of Ankara. Ayaş, which is advanced in terms of education, had 8 madrasahs, 2 primary schools and 1 secondary school as of 1900.
