Balçova
Balçova is a district of Izmir province. There are Konak in the east, Karabağlar in the east and south, Narlıdere in the west, and Izmir Bay in the north. It is 8 kilometers from the center of Izmir. The distance of the district center from the sea varies between 20 and 80 meters. The distance of the district to the airport is 18 kilometers. Balçova is located within the borders of the main city. The district is located close to the sea, that is, on the north side. The south side is covered with forests and mountains. Its surface area is 16 km2 and the population density is 3,229. It is the smallest district of Izmir in terms of surface area. While it was connected to Konak district, it became a district with the law numbered 3806 dated June 3, 1992. Balçova Thermal Facilities, Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine, Izmir University of Economics and Balçova Cable Car, the second largest cable car in Turkey, are located within the borders of this district. In 2008, Balçova Cable Car was closed on the grounds that it was inconvenient, but it was reopened on July 31, 2015.
