Başakşehir
Başakşehir is a district of Istanbul province. In 2008, Küçükçekmece was separated from Esenler and Büyükçekmece districts and became a district. Başakşehir is surrounded by Arnavutköy in the north, Sultangazi and Eyüpsultan in the northeast, Esenler in the east, Bağcılar, Küçükçekmece and Avcılar in the south and Esenyurt districts in the west. Başakşehir 1st and 2nd stages, Altınşehir center, Güvercintepe, Şahintepe neighborhoods and Kayabaşı village were given to Küçükçekmece Municipality, 4th Stage and 5th Stage were given to Esenler Municipality, and Bahçeşehir was a town municipality within Büyükçekmece district. However, with the latest regulations, these districts were combined and Başakşehir district was established. Başakşehir is one of the most preferred districts by foreign citizens in Turkey. Since the district is a region that receives intense immigration, the rate of Arabic, Russian, English and French speakers is high. Due to immigration from the Middle East and Africa, there are many people who speak Arabic, French and English. Russian is generally spoken by the people who immigrated from Russia, as well as Central Asian Turks. Due to the large Arab population, there are private schools for Arabs in the region.
