Battalgazi
Battalgazi is an important district of Malatya that has hosted all kinds of tribes throughout history and bears the traces of history. The first founding place of the city of Malatya is Aslantepe Mound, located in today's Bahçebaşı neighborhood. Its population is 295,821. It is the most developed metropolitan district of Malatya. It is full of apricot gardens and borders the Karakaya Dam. 2nd Army Command, İnönü University, Turgut Özal University and Turgut Özal Medical Center are located in this district. Pınarbaşı recreation area, Hürriyet park and Kernek waterfall are the main places of interest in Battalgazi throughout the 4 seasons. The Ulu Mosque from the Seljuk period, Silahtar Mustafa Pasha Caravanserai, Elvan Bath, Aslantepe Ancient City and Venk Church are among the interesting places of the district. The most fertile lands of Malatya are located in this region. Hasan Basri's tomb and Zeynal Abidin's tomb are here. Visits and shrines bring vitality to the district. Most of the people in the Old Malatya section of the district are engaged in agriculture. There are small industrial facilities, especially brick factories and apricot processing factories.
