Bekilli

Although the exact date of the first settlement in Bekilli is not known, there are strong indications that there were settlements between 1211 and 1243.

Looking at the history of Anatolia, it is seen that the Hittites, Phrygians, Lydians, Romans, Byzantines, Seljuks and Ottomans dominated Bekilli and its surroundings respectively.

During the War of Independence, a part of the district was occupied by the Greeks, but with the Great Offensive, they withdrew from the region on the night of August 31 and retreated towards Uşak.

While the district was a village under Afyonkarahisar Sanjak during the Ottoman period, it was annexed to İzmir province in 1884 and later to Denizli. In 1910, it was subordinated to Çal district for a long time as a parish and became a district with the law numbered 3392 enacted in 1987.
