Bismil
Bismil is a district of Diyarbakır province. It is the second most populous district of Diyarbakır.
The old tombstones found in Bismil are 250-400 years old. Some of them are said to have come from Konya and some from Mosul. Bismil, which used to be a village, became a district for a while and the villages of Mermer and Akpınar were connected to it. Later, this organization was disbanded and this district, which was named "Şark", was administered from the center.
In the 1926 administrative division, the center of Şark Nahiye was this time Seyithasan Mahallesi and Bismil was also connected to it. Later, Bismil District was formed again and Seyithasan Village was connected to it. In 1936, Bismil became the sixth district of Diyarbakır. Bismil is also the largest district after Ergani in terms of population.
