Bozdoğan took its name from the "Bozdoğan Tribe" living in the Çukurova region of Adana. This tribe is one of the Avşar tribes that settled in Çukurova and its surroundings. Later, some of its members were sent to the Aegean, Aydın and its surroundings. Members of the Bozdoğan Tribe who came to this region founded a settlement named after their tribe and continued their lives within the Aydınoğulları principality. After the collapse of the Aydınoğulları principality, a large part of them were emigrated to the Balkans, as they had cultural relations with the Karamanoğulları (both Avşar principalities). There were also many Bozdoğan people among these nomads. So much so that today there are still folk songs called "Bozdoğan" in the Balkans.
