Çatalpınar

Çatalpınar is a neighborhood in Ünye district of Ordu province. Çatalpınar is the oldest known name of this settlement. As a matter of fact, it is mentioned as Çatal Pınar in the Ottoman village list dated 1928. At this time, the village was connected to the central township of Ünye district of Ordu province. It is stated by the villagers that the name Çatalpınar is associated with two springs coming out of a cave. The people of the village are based on Georgians who migrated from the Çürüksu region after the 1877-1878 Ottoman-Russian War. Georgian is still spoken in the village today. The name of the village, which had the same administrative position in the 1935 general census, was written as "Çatalpınar". At that time, the population of the village consisted of 412 people. There are Merkez, Yamaçlı, Kızılkaya, Düzkırık and Ordulular neighborhoods in the neighborhood. There are also regional place names within neighbourhoods. These are Hocalar, Basiloğulları, Göktepe, Karapınar. Çatalpınar is 67 km away from Ordu city center and 4 km away from Ünye district center.
