Çay

Çay is a district of Afyonkarahisar province. In the Inner Aegean region; Located on the route where the Aegean, Mediterranean and Central Anatolian regions intersect, the district of Çay is surrounded by Sultandağı in the east, Yalvaç in the south, Şuhut and Afyonkarahisar in the west, and Bolvadin in the north. The area of the district, which is 48 km away from the city center, is 830 km². The history of the district of Çay dates back to the Old Bronze Age. In its history, it was famous for hosting the Ipsos War between the combined army of the Egyptian, Syrian and Thrace kings and the Antigonos Dynasty, and became the crossroads of ancient roads in the east-west, north-south direction. The economy of the district is based on agriculture. Grain, sugar beet and poppy are the leading agricultural products grown. Pasture farming is done in mountainous areas. There are flour mills in the district.
