Dörtdivan
Dörtdivan is a district of Bolu. In 1990, it was a town in Gerede district and was transformed into a district. There are Byzantine castle ruins in Yağbaşlar Village in the district. There is Himmet Dede Tomb on a hill between Yukarısayık and Sorkun villages, Kırklar Tomb in Kılıçlar village, Şehirban Nine Tomb in Çalköy, and Secamehmet Dede Tomb next to the Central Mosque. There is also Ayvadibi Healing Water in the Murseller neighborhood of Yağbaşlar Village. Köroğlu Festivals are held in Dörtdivan plateaus every year in July. Çalköy, Çetikören, Aladağ, Karaçayır, Ömerpaşalar, Kapaklı and Kirazlı plateaus are the most important plateaus. Folk poet Köroğlu was born in Hesinler neighborhood of Aşağısayık Village, one of the villages of the district. Some of the Oghuz Turks from the Kayı tribe, who came to Anatolia after the Battle of Manzikert, settled in Dörtdivan and its surroundings between 1074 and 1076. They gave names specific to the Oghuz tribes to the places where they settled. It is possible to see this situation frequently in the names of the villages in the district. It is estimated that Dörtdivan was established as a settlement in 1197 during the reign of Alaaddin Keykubat I. In Evliya Çelebi's Travelogue, it is written that Sultan Alaaddin Keykubat I had Divan kösu stolen in the mountains he conquered when he was the Bey of Bolu, and therefore these places were called "DİVAN". It is stated that there were first 7 of these places, but 3 of them were closed because they were too small and 4 remained, which is why the region was called "DÖRTDİVAN". In addition, the Ottoman army, which was defeated in the Battle of Ankara, was followed by Timur's Army during its retreat, and the Ottoman soldiers who came to Gerede and Dörtdivan were adopted and protected by the local people. It is stated that this attitude played an important role in the recovery of the Ottomans. After coming under Ottoman rule, the administrative status of Dörtdivan was as follows: 1-A town of Bolu Sanjak Beylik and Kütahya Province (1396-1462) 2-A subship of Bolu Voivodeship (1692-1812) 3-One of the 19 towns of Bolu Viranşehir Sanjak. (1812-1864) 4-Town of Kastamonu province of Bolu Governorate (1864-1869) 5-According to the 1890 state yearbook, Gerede is a town of Bolu Governorship, Dörtdivan township. Between 1908 and 1916, Dörtdivan remained as a township affiliated with Gerede. With the declaration of the Republic, Bolu became a province, and Dörtdivan remained as a township within the Gerede district of Bolu province until 1990. Dörtdivan became a district on 9.5.1990 and has been a district of Bolu since then. When an uprising broke out in Bolu in October 1811, Dörtdivan Ayanı Kalınbacakoğlu İsmail Ağa from Çalköy suppressed the uprising in Bolu with the soldiers he collected from Gerede and Dörtdivandan and was awarded the musketeer medal by the sultan.
