Dusseldorf
Düsseldorf is the capital of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is also the headquarters of the Düsseldorf Province (Regierungsbezirk). It is a fashion and fair city established on the banks of the Rhine. To the north is the Ruhr Area, and to the south is Cologne. The Düssel Stream gives the city its name. Famous for its taverns and breweries in Düsseldorf's city centre, the Altstadt District is popularly referred to as the world's longest bar (Die längste Theke der Welt). Its population is around 620,000. The city is known for its world-famous industrial fairs. Fairs that shape the world industry are organized and serve various sectors. The state's largest airport, Düsseldorf International Airport, is located in this city.
