Erdek
Erdek is a district located in the northern extremity of Balıkesir province, one of the most important holiday regions of Turkey. It is located in the Gulf of Erdek on the Kapıdağ Peninsula of the Marmara Region, extending towards the Marmara Sea. It is one of the first resort areas of Turkey. It is one of the most important tourism centers of Turkey. Although Erdek has a small district population in winter seasons, the population exceeds the population of some small provinces in summer seasons with the effect of tourism. The district, which has been home to various civilizations in history, is one of Turkey's most important districts in various respects.
It consists of the Kapıdağ peninsula, whose ancient name was Arktonnesos. Around the north and west are the Marmara Islands of Marmara district. However, Paşalimanı Island is connected to Erdek. The region has a mild Marmara climate.
Erdek is a tourism center with its ancient cities, Open Air Museum, clean sea and sandy beach.
