Gerger

Gerger is a district of Adıyaman province. When Adıyaman was separated from Malatya and became a province in 1954, Gerger became a district. The district was named with the historical name Gerger and the village of Aldus was chosen as the district center. Historical Gerger, on the other hand, still maintains its name as Nefsi Gerger and is now officially referred to as the village of Oymaklı. Before it became a district, it was connected to Malatya's Pötürge. Before Gerger became a district, the town center was Güngörmüş village. After the completion of the public buildings and school constructions in Gerger, the District Office was transferred to Gerger in 1953. A year later, when Adıyaman became a province, Gerger was raised to district status. Gerger Castle, which can also be used for tourism purposes, is located within the borders of the district. In addition, there is Karagöl, which can be evaluated for a day trip, around Güngörmüş village.
