Gevye

It is located in the east of the Marmara Region, south of Sakarya province. It is bordered by Karapürçek and Taraklı to the east, Pamukova to the west, Sapanca and the central district of Adapazarı to the north, and Osmaneli and Gölpazarı districts of Bilecik province to the south.

Geyve has been a district since 1830. Until 1954, it was connected to Kocaeli province, but since then, it has been connected to Sakarya province. Its surface area is 62.852 hectares. With this structure, Geyve is the largest district in Sakarya in terms of area and 7th in terms of population. The height of the district center is 124 meters above sea level and the highest place is 1040 m. high Çinetaşı Hill.

Almost the entire population of the district is composed of Manav Turks and citizens from the Eastern Black Sea region. The Black Sea people, on the other hand, are the people who settled in this region after the Tsarist armies pushed the local people out during World War I. Roma, Caucasians and Kurds also live in the district.

The most important rivers of the district are the Sakarya River and the Karaçay stream. While the Sakarya River passes just on the edge of the district center, the Karaçay Stream flows through the middle of the district and flows into the Sakarya River. Sakarya River is the lifeblood of agriculture in the plain. The 20% of the land along the Sakarya River is plain and the remaining 80% is mountainous and forested. The lowland part is very suitable for irrigated agriculture.
