Karamürsel
Karamürsel is a district of Kocaeli province. It is located in the south of the Kocaeli Gulf, between Gölcük and Yalova. It is known for its beach, fish restaurants, orchards (cherries, plums, peaches, pears, figs, etc.) and olive cultivation. There is Karamürsel basket, which belongs to Karamürsel and has no other similar basket. The difference of the Karamursel basket from other baskets is that it has no handle. However, it has a rope threaded through the side and is tied around the waist. It also looks small but holds a lot. That is why the Karamursel basket has a nickname with the expression "You saw it so small and thought it was a Karamursel basket". In addition, a dish unique to Karamürsel (especially made during Ramadan) is stuffed simit. It is known for its festivities held every year on the anniversary of the Liberation of Karamürsel on July 4th for years. There is also a chimney belonging to the fabric factory established during the Ottoman Period in Karamürsel. This historical chimney has survived until today. Yeni Karamürsel Stores, which the founders of this fabric factory later established, took its name from here.
