Karpuzlu
Karpuzlu is the smallest district in terms of population density of Aydın province in the Aegean Region. According to the figures of the end of 2018, Karpuzlu district center, with a population of 2006 people, is 55 km away from Aydın, the provincial center. The population of the district, where a total of 11,113 people live, including its neighborhoods, has been decreasing continuously since the 1990s. Turkey's first female headman, Gül Esin, was elected in Demircidere District of Karpuzlu. The name of the settlement, which was previously Demircidere Village, was changed to "Karpuzlu" on May 8, 1972, after the municipality was established in 1971. Karpuzlu became a district with the Law No. 3644 dated 09.05.1990.
