Kayapınar
Kayapınar is one of the 17 districts of Diyarbakır.
The first settlement of this district was Peyas Village. On November 7, 1991, the village of Peyas, which had a population of approximately 3 thousand, was transformed into a town. The second important settlement of the town was Huzurevleri. In 2013, Peyas neighborhood, which is connected to the district, was recorded as the most populous neighborhood in Turkey with a population of 142,228, while Huzurevleri, another neighborhood connected to the district, ranked second with 91,832 people.
Kayapınar, which has experienced great changes in the last 14 years, became the first tier municipality of Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality with the Local Government Law enacted in 2004. In 2004, 9 villages were connected to Kayapınar and the population of the district, which was 68,000, became 75,592.
In 1991, when the municipality was established, the population of the town was 3 thousand according to official figures, while it was 20 thousand in 1994, 42 thousand in 1997 and 68 thousand in the 2000 census. The population of the district, which has received intense migration in the last five years, is around 300,000. Considering the buildings being constructed within the municipality's borders, which is almost like a construction site in Diyarbakır, it is expected that a population of around 40,000 will settle in this region in the next two years.1 The biggest development in the construction sector is seen around Diclekent Boulevard and Fırat Boulevard.
