Körfez
Körfez or formerly Yarımca is a district of Kocaeli. This district is surrounded by Gebze and Dilovası in the west, Şile in the north and Derince in the east. Large industrial organizations such as TÜPRAŞ, PETKİM and İGSAŞ are located in this district. There is a pond in the district where drinking water used to be supplied. The pond provided water to the district from 1951 until 1989. Today, it is out of service. The old name of the town, which is the center of the district, was Yarımca, and it was a village connected to Gebze until September 26, 1934. Yarımca, which was connected to the central district of İzmit on this date, became a town on May 3, 1964. In 1987, except for Çerkeşli village, it became a district with the participation of Hereke sub-district of Gebze, some villages in the west of the central district and Duraklı and Hatipler villages of Mollafenari sub-district of Gebze. The district reached its present borders in 1989 with the return of Duraklı and Hatipler villages to the Mollafenari sub-district of Gebze.
