Kumlu
Kumlu is a district of Hatay province. It is located in the Amik Plain.
Kumlu district is neighboring Antakya (Central district), Reyhanlı and Kırıkhan districts. Located in the center of the Amik plain, the district was allocated as a settlement in 1945 when it was a swampy place covered with various reeds under the invasion of Lake Amik. In 1956, the district and gendarmerie organization in Hamam Village was transferred to Killik village. In 1968, a municipal organization was established in Killik Village, which became a town in 1965 with a population of over 2000.[citation needed] The name of the settlement, which has been popularly known as Kumul since 1945, was changed to Kumlu with the establishment of the municipal organization. Kumlu became a district on May 9, 1990 with the law numbered 3644, while it was a district of Reyhanlı.
