Meram

Meram is one of the central districts of Konya province and is located in the southwestern part of the city. It is at the centre of five important roads, namely Ankara-Konya, Isparta-Konya, Antalya-Konya, Mersin-Konya and Adana-Konya.

Evliya Çelebi, while mentioning vineyards, gardens and orchards among the places he visited in his travelogue, always uses the expression "Bağ-ı Meram" (Meram Vineyard) for these vineyard-gardened places. He even states that these places are like Meram of Konya. The Church of St Paul, the last church of Konya, is located here.
