Merzifon
Merzifon is a district of Amasya. The region has hosted many civilizations throughout history. This plain, known as Yediler, with its lakes and fertile lands, suitable for hunting and agriculture, became a home for people about 7 thousand years ago. The roads leading to the Black Sea coast and central Anatolia intersect in Merzifon. For this reason, geographer and historian Strabon defined this region as the "Thousand Villages" region. Archaeological research in the region, which Strabon stated as a thousand villages, has revealed the existence of hundreds of mounds and settlements. According to the ceramics and finds obtained from these mounds, it has been understood that the history of Merzifon dates back to 5500 BC.
