Mihalgazi
Mihalgazi, formerly Gümele, is a district of Eskişehir province. In the Ottoman history, it was first a village of Sultanönü (Eskişehir) sanjak, then it was connected to Bursa and then Bolu sanjaks together with Göynük accident. In 1868, Gümele was a village under the Göynük accident of Bolu Sanjak of Kastamonu province. In 1894, it was connected to Inhisar sub-district of Söğüt District of Bilecik. However, its village status lasted for 32 years.
The people of the village repelled the Greek army coming from Inhisar during the Turkish War of Independence. In the same year, Mihalgazi was separated from Inhisar and became a district of Söğüt. Mihalgazi, which maintained this status until 1946, was connected to the central district of Eskişehir in 1946 and to Sarıcakaya district in 1957. Mihalgazi, which became a town in 1967, became a district in 1990. It has 9 neighbourhoods. Mihalgazi Municipality is connected to Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality like other districts and town municipalities except the central district.
There is Mihalgazi Primary School. Students from the following villages are transported to the school: Demirciler, Karaoglan, Bozanic, Sakarilica. It also has hot springs.
It is between the Sündiken Mountains and Bolu Mountain. There is a lot of greenery, it meets the seasonal vegetables and needs of Eskişehir province. Sakarya River adds a different richness to the district. The district is geographically in the Black Sea Region. There are also municipal pools open to the public.
