Tekman

Tekman is a district of Erzurum province.

Although the exact date of the establishment of the district is not known, the settlement was mentioned in history under the Armenian name "Tatos". It joined the Ottoman administration in 1517. Tekman, which was seen as a sanjak affiliated to Erzurum Province in 1535 and 1641 in the sources, was recorded in the status of an accident affiliated to Erzurum sanjak according to the records in 1836 and the salname dated 1864. Until 1946, it was a village of Hınıs district, but it was made a district in the same year. Bayındır, Hatunan and Çimenözü villages, which were previously connected to the district, were connected to Çat district due to their geographical location, Erduran and Dibekli villages were connected to Hınıs district, Akdağ village, which was connected to Karayazı district, and Gümüşlük, Güneşli, Çat Kale, Çağlar, Çayır mountain and kuruca villages, which were connected to Hınıs district, were connected to Tekman district.
