Terme

Terme is a district located in the east of Samsun province, on the border of Ordu province. There are Çarşamba districts in the west, Ünye in the east, and Salıpazarı and İkizce districts in the south. It was established in the middle of the Terme Plain. The population of Terme district is 71,938 people according to 2020 population data. Terme's place as a district in history; It dates back approximately seventy-five years. However, in history, Terme has established itself as a very old settlement and contains many legends. It is thought that Terme was built on Themiskira, an ancient settlement. Terme before the Turkish domination of Anatolia; Hittites, Phrygians, Medes, Persians, Romans and Eastern Romans dominated. During the reign of Alaeddin Keykubat I, Terme came under the rule of the Anatolian Seljuk state. When the Anatolian Seljuk State weakened, Terme remained under the rule of the Eretna Principality and was annexed to the Ottoman Empire in 1389 during the reign of Yıldırım Bayezid.
