Yavuzeli
Yavuzeli is a district of Gaziantep province. Its old name is Cingife. It is 30 km away from the city center.
Although its history is not known for certain, according to a rumor, it is said that there was a Genoese city here and the name Cingife originated from here. In recent history, Yavuz Sultan Selim, one of the Ottoman Sultans, stayed here on his way to the Mercidabık campaign in 1517. Because of the close interest shown by the local people, he wants this place to be named "Yavuz's province". The name Cingife was changed to Yavuzeli with the law on the establishment of the district in 1958. The district is located in the area surrounded by Araban in the North, Şanlıurfa Province in the East, Kahramanmaraş Province in the Northwest, Nizip in the Southeast, and the Central Şehitkamil District in the South. In the east of our district, it is determined by the Euphrates River bordering Şanlıurfa Province. The height of our district is 850 meters from the sea, its distance to the city center is 38 km and its surface area is 483 km². 31% of the population lives in the district center and 69% in the villages. The population density in the district is 51. Due to the fact that the main source of livelihood of the district is agriculture and animal husbandry and the lack of industry, families with unemployment problems migrated to Gaziantep provincial center. There are also a few families who settled in the district center from other cities. Rum Castle, Dolmen Tombs and historical places. A natural wonder like Karapınar Lake Casino is also in this district.
